Counseling » Testing

Dear Parents,

Your child will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), a state mandated standardized test, April 3-5. We would like to encourage you to make sure that your child is present on the testing dates.   We will be testing from 8:30 until 10:00 each morning.

Taking standardized tests can cause stress for some students.  Below are some test-taking tools that parents can use in order to reduce the level of stress your child may feel:

Talk to your child about the upcoming tests and the importance of doing

      his/her best.

Peak performance often depends on how a student feels physically and

mentally.  It is always a smart idea to have your child go to bed early the

night before testing and eat a good breakfast each morning.

Make sure that your child gets to school on time or even a little early.

Getting to school late can cause certain students to feel

Allow your child to choose appropriate or comfortable clothes to wear.

Help your child maintain a positive attitude about taking standardized tests.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support this school year!
